Dechert Advises OneFootball on Addition of German Football Association (DFB), Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur as New Shareholders

March 25, 2021

Dechert LLP advised the world's largest football/soccer media platform OneFootball, headquartered in Berlin, Germany, who welcomed the German Football Association (DFB), Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur as new shareholders. They join Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Olympique de Marseille, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, who all became OneFootball shareholders in 2020 when OneFootball acquired Dugout, a digital media company that was co-owned by these 10 of the world’s biggest football clubs (Dechert Advises OneFootball on its Acquisition of Dugout – Reshaping Football’s Digital Media Landscape).

DFB, the first national association shareholder, and the extended collective of world-leading clubs will all benefit from the continued growth, unique positioning and future vision of OneFootball. They will jointly drive football’s digital transformation, supporting the strategic direction of the business, and importantly, the broader football content ecosystem.

Dechert has been advising OneFootball since it was formed and supported OneFootball throughout various equity financing rounds with well known venture capital investors, including Earlybird, Union Square Ventures, Lakestar, and TPG Growth, as well as high-net-worth individuals.

Dechert’s corporate team included partner Federico G. Pappalardo, associate Christian Böhme and national partner Carina Klaes-Staudt.
