Euromoney Recognizes Caroline Black as “Best in White Collar Crime” and Dechert as “Best International Firm for Minority Women Lawyers”
Dechert LLP has been honored with two awards at Euromoney’s European Women in Business Law Awards 2020. The contest, now in its tenth year, recognizes outstanding women lawyers and the firms that set the standard for women-friendly work practices.
London partner Caroline Black, a widely recognized authority at the forefront of the investigations field, was named “Best in White Collar Crime”. Most recently, Ms. Black advised European aerospace leader Airbus SE on a four-year, multi-jurisdictional corruption investigation, one of the largest global investigations ever. Airbus reached a landmark US$4 billion settlement in January 2020, believed to be the first settlement agreement with the UK’s Serious Fraud Office, France’s Parquet National Financier, and the U.S. Departments of Justice and State. In March, Ms. Black and her colleagues were named “Investigation Team of the Year” for their achievements by business intelligence organization C5 in the Women in Compliance Awards 2020.
Ms. Black also led a cross-border Dechert team on a multi-year pro bono project for the Human Dignity Trust, which aims to abolish discriminatory anti-LGBT laws around the world. A passionate advocate for the advancement of women, she is an active supporter of the Global Women’s Initiative at Dechert.
Dechert itself was named “Best International Firm for Minority Women Lawyers” by Euromoney, which praised the firm for its policies and progress on the wider aspects of diversity and inclusion. Innovative diversity initiatives include a “diversity dashboard”, which helps firm leaders identify where things are working effectively and where more attention is needed, and the launch of an internal award, open to all those at Dechert, to recognize the firm’s Diversity Champions.
Dechert is regularly honored for its progress towards D&I goals. Most recently, the firm’s D&I team was honored by Profiles in Diversity Journal in its Diversity Team Awards. In addition, the firm was named to the “Top 70 Companies for Executive Women” list—for the second year in a row—by National Association for Female Executives, a division of Working Mother Media, and named as one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign for the eighth consecutive year.
Euromoney also selected Dechert as a finalist in the “Pro Bono”, “Mentorship Program” and “UK – International Firm” categories. Winners in all categories were announced on September 10.
