Patrick Goebel

Patrick Goebel advises on all types of retail and private Luxembourg investment funds, including UCITS and AIFs, investing in private equity and venture capital, private debt (including loan origination), real estate, infrastructure or other type of assets including crypto assets. He also assists investors on their investments in Luxembourg investment funds, including due- diligence and negotiation of investment terms.

Mr. Goebel furthermore advises on the establishment, the restructuring and on other legal and regulatory aspects of management companies, AIFMs (including EuVECA managers), investment firms (MiFID) and financial service providers such as depositaries and administrators. He also assists on the due-diligences relating to the acquisitions of managers and financial service providers and leads in this respect the change-of-control application with the Luxembourg regulator.

Mr. Goebel has been consistently ranked as a leading partner for investment funds in Luxembourg by both The Legal 500 EMEA and by Chambers Europe since 2009. The Chambers Europe 2026 edition describes him as "an experienced, knowledgeable lawyer who knows the law inside out", adding that he "consistently delivers clear, timely and personable service" whilst demonstrating "keen insight into his clients' commercial objectives, tailoring legal advice appropriately."

Mr. Goebel regularly speaks at conferences on various fund-related and manager-related matters. He is a lecturer on civil liability at the University of Luxembourg and an adjunct lecturer at the School of International Financial Services (SIFS).

Mr. Goebel started his career in the financial services industry in 1998 before becoming a lawyer in 2007. He is with Dechert since 2012.
