Drew Bencie focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on product liability and mass tort matters. Mr. Bencie represents clients across a range of industries including food, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing. He has represented clients in state and federal court at all stages of litigation including fact discovery and case workup, expert witnesses, motion practice, Daubert briefing, and trial preparation.
Mr. Bencie maintains an active pro bono practice with an emphasis on prisoner and detainee civil rights matters. He represents a group of individuals challenging their conditions of confinement in the now-shuttered Glen Mills School as well as the family of a decedent bringing claims of inadequate medical care against a correctional institution.
Mr. Bencie is a regular contributor to the product liability and mass torts group’s newsletter, Dechert Re:Torts.
Mr. Bencie joined Dechert as a summer associate in 2020. Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Bencie was an intern with the Cape May County District Attorney’s Office and the Compass Center for Women and Families. In law school, Mr. Bencie was a student attorney in the country’s first Critical Race Lawyering Civil Rights Clinic and served as a comments editor on the North Carolina Law Review.
