Changes to EU Privacy Law: the General Data Protection Regulation
June 07, 2016
First proposed in January 2012, on April 27, 2016, the European Council and Parliament adopted a new data protection law: the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The legislation will come into force on May 25, 2018, giving businesses time to ensure their procedures are in compliance. The GDPR aims to harmonize the differing data protection laws in force across the EU and will be immediately applicable to organizations processing European personal data.
