Recent English Law Changes Invite Mass Tort Litigation, Some Backed by U.S. Plaintiff Lawyers
Over the last several years English court decisions have broadened the use of aggregate litigation mechanisms, including Group Litigation Orders, which is leading to a rise in mass claimant litigation in the UK. This development brings group litigation in the UK closer to mass litigation in the United States. Recently, U.S.-based plaintiffs’ attorneys have entered the UK market, including some who are known for securing multi-million dollar verdicts. These U.S.-based lawyers have announced their goal of bringing U.S.-style aggregate litigation to English courts, which could cause a substantial change in the UK litigation climate.
Please join Dechert’s Product Liability and Mass Torts group, UK practitioners and guest speakers for a discussion of what has happened to date, what to expect and how to be one step ahead.
