The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) represents the greatest change to European data security in 20 years. To mark the one-year anniversary of the implementation of the GDPR, please join members of Dechert’s Labor & Employment and Data Privacy & Cybersecurity practices from the UK and France, for a discussion on the implications of the GDPR for business and what lessons have been learned.
In particular, this session will look at:
- An overview of the key changes and their impact
- An update on fines for non-compliance issued so far, including the fine issued by CNIL against Google
- The increase in data subject access requests and practical tips for dealing with them
- How to deal with data breaches
- Managing transfers of data to third parties, particularly in the context of corporate transactions and after Brexit
- Miscellaneous related HR issues such as background checks, monitoring of employees and whistleblowing hotlines, and
- Ensuring ongoing compliance with the GDPR – updating Privacy Notices, Impact Assessments & record-keeping obligations.
