For the second consecutive year, Dechert LLP has been recognized as Private Debt Investor’s “Fund Formation Law Firm of the Year” for Asia-Pacific in the PDI Annual Awards 2024, the highest profile awards program in the private credit industry. The firm was previously named winner in the same category in the 2023 awards.
Thanks to the continued success of its Asia-based funds team, Dechert has retained its place as one of the two top-ranked firms globally in PDI’s Hall of Fame, having won eight “Law Firm of the Year” titles in the contest’s 11-year history.
Notable credit fund launches handled in the past year include Genesis Alternative Ventures II, a venture debt fund seeking investment opportunities in early-stage growth companies in Southeast Asia. Dechert advised on all structuring, operational, marketing and other key aspects relating to the fund, which raised US$125 million at its final closing in September 2024. Dechert previously helped Genesis establish and close the first-ever venture debt fund focused on Southeast Asia.
Other highlights include assisting CapitaLand Fund Management, a global real estate investment manager with a strong presence in Asia, in establishing the A$265 million Australia Credit Program, a private credit real estate fund. Final closing of the fund, which is targeting investments in certain pre-identified first mortgage loans secured on Australian real estate in key capital cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide, occurred in November 2024.
Led by Singapore-based partner Dean Collins, Dechert’s Asia funds team was honored as Law.com International’s “Investment Funds Firm of the Year” in 2024 and has been ranked in Band 1 for Singapore investment funds in Chambers’ Asia Pacific guide since 2018. Mr. Collins was recognized in the Hall of Fame in the latest edition of The Legal 500 Asia Pacific for his work in investment funds, having previously recognized him as a Leading Individual since 2017.
