International Financial Law Review Honors Dechert Restructuring Team
Dechert LLP’s financial restructuring practice has been recognized for its part in the debt restructuring of YPF S.A., the Argentinian national oil and gas company, whose exchange offer and consent solicitation was named “High Yield Deal of the Year” by the International Financial Law Review at the IFLR Americas Awards 2022.
Lawyers from Dechert’s financial restructuring practice advised an ad hoc group of bondholders on the restructuring, which led to a beneficial outcome for all noteholders and avoided a default on the 2021 Notes.
Another Dechert matter - the Chapter 11 restructuring of Latin American airline Avianca - was also a finalist for “Restructuring Deal of the Year.” A Dechert team led by Allan Brilliant, co-chair of the firm’s financial restructuring practice, advised U.S. hedge fund Citadel Advisors LLC in connection with Avianca’s out-of-court restructuring and continues to represent Citadel in its subsequent Chapter 11, which was recently named “Restructuring Deal of the Year” by Latin Lawyer.
IFLR also awarded a finalist spot to Dechert for “Structured Finance and Securitization Team of the Year,” and named the US$27 billion sale of financial market data provider Refinitiv to London Stock Exchange Group plc. as a finalist for “M&A Deal of the Year”. Dechert advised Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC on its part in the transaction.
