Dechert Recognized as All-Time Global Leader in Private Debt and Law Firm of the Year in Real Estate Finance

Dechert LLP has been recognized as a top-ranked law firm globally in Private Debt Investor’s Hall of Fame after winning its sixth “Law Firm of the Year” title in the publication’s PDI Awards 2020. No other law firm has been named winner more times in the contest’s eight-year history.

Dechert was also recognized by Real Estate Capital (REC), the publication of record for the world’s real estate finance markets. Winners in both contests were chosen by industry vote.

In the PDI Awards 2020, Dechert was named “Law Firm of the Year for Europe” for steering blue-chip clients through a range of fund formation, structured finance, real estate finance and restructuring mandates, including a number of standout private debt transactions in the past year. “We’re grateful for our clients’ continued support in helping us achieve this recognition,” said David Miles, a partner in the leveraged finance team in London.

Dechert was also the only law firm shortlisted by PDI in all regions, being a finalist in the Americas, for counseling a significant number of BDCs and for success on notable M&A deals, and in Asia-Pacific, where it acts for a number of credit funds focused on niche geographies or strategies.

In the REC Awards 2020, Dechert was named “Law Firm of the Year” in the “UK Transactions” category for advising leading alternative asset managers and financial institutions on notable real estate finance transactions.

Dechert was also a finalist for “Law Firm of the Year” in Private Equity International’s PEI Awards 2020. The firm was shortlisted in Asia-Pacific in the Secondaries category for closing the largest ever secondaries transaction globally in 2020 and for advising on other notable deals in the Asia-Pacific region, including a spin-out, restructurings of tail-end funds and a restructuring involving technology funds.
