Mauricio A. España was interviewed by Hispanic Executive regarding his experience handling complex commercial and white-collar cases, particularly those involving heavily regulated residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS). His most high-profile matters include representing the Bank of New York Mellon in connection with its $8.5 billion settlement with Bank of America (BoA)—one of the largest private settlements in U.S. history—and representing Fannie Mae in its $10.3 billion settlement of RMBS-related claims against BoA. Mr. España also maintains a dedicated pro bono practice, handling cases for nonprofits, asylum issues and landlord-tenant disputes.
