Dechert advised Barings, one of the world’s leading investment managers, on a definitive agreement to acquire Artemis Real Estate Partners (Artemis), an US$11+ billion real estate investment firm.
Barings aims to strengthen its position in the U.S. real estate market and accelerate long-term growth by combining the firms’ complementary investment capabilities and expertise. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025.
Artemis, with its robust portfolio and significant expertise, is a strategic fit for Barings. The combined strengths of both firms are expected to drive substantial growth and innovation in the real estate sector.
The Dechert team that advised Barings included corporate partners Ken Young, Gregory Schernecke and Ross MacConnell and associates Yasmin Yavari and Bryan Wilson; tax partner Joshua Milgrim and associate Ishani Kundu; antitrust partner James Fishkin and counsel Beverly Ang; financial services partners Paul Stevens and Neel Maitra and associate Cindy Wu; cybersecurity, privacy and AI partner Hilary Bonaccorsi and associate Daniel Murdock; real estate special counsel Francois Quintard-Morenas and associate Devyn Kurpis; employee benefits partners Kevin Kay and John Schuch and associates Tabitha Crosier and Taylor Knowles; intellectual property partner Thomas Rayski and associate Spencer Joffrion; and labor partner Ian Downes along with associate Tanya Warnke.
