Dublin FAQs

  • Please complete our online application form here.

The application window for our internship programme is from 1 December 2024 to 14 February 2025.

  • Our internships take place during July each summer. Dates will be agreed with successful candidates.

  • We do not accept applications after the deadline.

  • No, we do not usually accept CV applications. If you are unable to complete the online application form, please contact us at graduate.recruitment@dechert.com to discuss, in confidence, your individual circumstances. We will be able to make adjustments to the process as required.

  • Currently, we do not. However, we hope to run open events in our Dublin office in the future. For a list of our campus events, please see here.

  • Our recruits almost invariably have exceptional academic grades, and have graduated with, or are on course for a 2.1 or first.

  • We take all relevant information into consideration and look at your application as a whole. If you didn’t reach the minimum requirements, we ask that you provide any mitigating circumstances in the relevant part of the application form.

  • We do not offer informal work experience placements. Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply for a place on one of our internships.

  • No, we will contact all applicants and aim to do so within ten working days of receiving your application.

  • We reimburse up to €100 for travel expenses incurred to attend an interview at the firm’s office.

  • In this circumstance, we would advise you to apply for an associate position, rather than a training contract. Please visit the Experienced Lawyers section of our careers site for further information.

  • You cannot re-apply for the same position in the same application year. However, you are welcome to apply the following year.

  • If you have a genuine interest in an area of postgraduate study, we encourage you to pursue this interest. However, we do not recommend students to take on postgraduate studies to merely boost their vacation scheme application or fill a gap year. Undertaking an MA and achieving a high grade will not mitigate for falling below our academic criteria at undergraduate degree level. If you decide to pursue postgraduate studies you should be able to give full and convincing reasons for this in an interview.
