Advocating for Human Rights
At Dechert LLP, our commitment to advocating for human rights is deeply rooted in our pro bono work. Our legal team works diligently to protect the rights of individuals imprisoned for their beliefs, political views, or for challenging the status quo.

Dechert's pro bono efforts include representing prisoners of conscience globally, advocating for their release, and challenging unjust treatment. The firm collaborates with international human rights organizations to spotlight these cases. Lawyers also tackle broader human rights issues such as fighting discrimination, safeguarding refugee rights and promoting access to justice. In collaboration with Freedom Now, Dechert has handled over 40 cases, mobilizing lawyers to represent political prisoners and conduct advocacy campaigns for their release, with several clients liberated from prison.

Dechert works with a number of human rights groups, including the ABA Rule of Law Initiative, ABA Center for Human Rights and The Advocates for Human Rights. Our work includes assisting with intervention briefs before the European Court of Human Rights and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights as well as providing international comparative law research reports.
